Philippe Kavafyan will no longer head offshore wind turbine manufacturer MHI Vestas. As Vestas Wind Systems acquires MHI's half-stake in the company, its French chief executive steps down, even though his departure wasn't part of the deal struck by Vestas and MHI, the former confirms speaking to EnergyWatch.
Instead, Johnny Thomsen will take over as CEO until the transaction closes, which is expected to happen in the current quarter or the next. Meanwhile, the turbine maker's current Chief Financial Officer Tatsuichiro Honda takes over as co-CEO, a position that's been a special characteristic of MHI Vestas' management structure throughout the firm's existence.
