Siemens Gamesa secures record order for flagship turbine

A new order for 6-MW turbines for a Swedish wind farm brings the turbine manufacturer's sale of its flagship model to one gigawatt.

The Swedish wind market seems to have fallen in love with Siemens Gamesa's 5-MW platform.

Monday, the turbine manufacturer announced yet another order for 60 units of its major SG 5.8-170 turbines – even set to be upgraded to 6.2 MW – to be installed at the Björnberget farm west of Sundsvall, Sweden. With a total of 372 MW, this is the biggest order for that turbine so far.
