Siemens Gamesa and Vestas face strikes in Spain

Labor committees at both Siemens Gamesa's blade plant in Aoiz and Vestas' ditto in Daimiel have presented plans to strike in the coming weeks – but for different reasons.

It's now uncertain if blades will be made at Siemens Gamesa's factory in Aoiz, Spain, on Friday, the first of five forewarned strike days called by a labor committee over the coming three weeks. Furthermore, strikes are planned on Jul. 23 and 29 as well as Aug. 6 and 7, Spanish labor unions CCOO, UGT and ELA inform.

The strike will allow the 239 personnel to participate in a walkout of a more permanent character. On Jun. 30 news emerged that Siemens Gamesa is closing its factory for reasons of long-term competition as well as the plant's production of "small" wind turbine models.
