Statkraft builds floating solar farm in Albania

The state-owned Norwegian utility adds more capacity to its Albanian hydroelectric plant by installing floating solar panels on the surface of a reservoir.

Floating wind has recently been a pivotal topic within the subject of Norwegian renewable energy, but now state-owned power company Statkraft will try its luck with another type of buoyant green energy, solar panels.

Specifically, 2 MWp will be added to Statkraft's 72 MW Banja hydroelectric plant in Albania. Construction will be carried out subcontractor Ocean Sun, which, as conveyed by the name, specializes in installing floating solar.
