MHI Vestas to supply British project with 10 MW turbines

It'll be the most powerful machine in the current arsenal that's installed on SSE's and Total's UK offshore wind farm, Seagreen Alpha, which will end up slightly smaller than previously assumed.

When MHI Vestas announced a conditional order for British project Seagreen Alpha on Monday, one detail was omitted: the turbine model.

Given recent developments, this omission could pique one's curiosity. Did MHI Vestas have a new model up its sleeve? After all, SSE and Equinor opted in October to use General Electric's 12 MW turbine for the concurrent Dogger Bank project, while Siemens Gamesa's newly announced 14 MW model was last week chosen for projects including Taiwan's Hai Long 2, slated for operation in 2025.
