New study: Energy islands pave the way for 180 GW North Sea wind capacity

One or more energy islands may be the key to meeting climate targets, according to new study by consortium North Sea Wind Power Hub.

In recent months, partners at international consortium North Sea Wind Power Hub (NSWPH) have been analyzing the possibilities and conditions for establishing one or more energy islands in the North Sea.

The conclusion is that a series of smaller energy islands would be the most effective course of action, informs Danish transmission system operator (TSO) Energinet in a press statement (Danish).
