Unexpected wind turbine repairs cost billions

57 percent of all onshore wind turbine repairs in 2019 will be characterized as unexpected – and these are expensive, a new report from WoodMac shows.

Unexpected onshore wind turbine repairs are pricey – both in terms of maintenance costs and lost generation – USD 8.5 billion, to be specific.

According to Wood Mackenzie, that will be the total price of all unexpected onshore repairs during 2019, corresponding to 57 percent of the total USD 15 billion figure spent on onshore upkeep.
