Siemens Gamesa secures 640 MW order

German project developer WPD has closed its financial agreement for Taiwan's first large offshore wind farm.

Offshore wind farm Yunlin is ready to enter construction phase. German project developer WPD has secured financing with four local and 15 international banks as well as export credit agencies from Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands, EKF, Euler Hermes og Atradius, respectively. The project will have a combined effect of 640 MW consisting of 80 8 MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbines. The order, now firm and unconditional, also includes a 15-year service agreement.

"We are extremely satisfied that the preferred supplier agreement we reached with wpd offshore one year ago has materialized into a firm order. It is furthermore encouraging to be able to introduce the SG 8.0-167 DD in APAC with an order of this volume," writes Andreas Nauen, CEO of the Offshore Business Unit at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, adding:
