Massachusetts plans another 800 MW offshore wind farm

Massachusetts is preparing its second large offshore wind project. Several players including Ørsted and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners have already entered site lease agreements.

Massachusetts and three large utilities plan to establish an additional 800 MW offshore wind farm, reports Bloomberg News.

In 2016, Massachusetts passed legislation stipulating that the state must increasingly source its electricity from renewables, and it set an 80 percent CO2 reduction target for 2050 relative to the level in 1990, thus forming the basis for the state's ongoing power project tenders.
