Siemens Gamesa achieves gigawatt with major turbine

After having nominated Vestas wind turbines, EDF once again switches to Siemens Gamesa with the third solid order for 4.5 MW turbines in a short time.

Sales of the largest wind turbine in Siemens Gamesa's current catalog have begun in earnest. French EDF Renewables has placed an order for 232 MW for the project Milligan in Nebraska, which, besides 36 turbines of the type SG 2.7-129, will consist of 30 SG 4.5-145 turbines. As such, the wind turbine manufacturer reaches an order intake of 1 GW for the large turbine, announces Siemens Gamesa on the order, which arrives less than a month following EDF buying 432 MW's worth of the turbine for two projects in Texas and New Mexico.
