Boskalis will install export cables for the world's largest offshore wind farm, Hornsea 2. Ørsted, the developer behind the 165-wind turbine facility, has awarded the Dutch offshore operator a contract worth more than EUR 100 million for preparatory tasks and installation of three export cable circuits with a combined approximate length of 380 kilometers, announces Boskalis.
The project's supply chain is thereby just about settled. Hornsea 2 will begin installation phase later this year and is set to be commissioned in late 2021. The contracts for the cable Boskalis will install were entered with NKT and Nexans last year, and each company will supply roughly 200 kilometers of export cable worth a rough total of EUR 150 million. The third large cable producer, Prysmian, will deliver inter-array cables along with JDR Cables.
