Nordex enters the 5MW class

Much like Vestas and GE, German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex is expanding its 4MW platform to include a turbine with more than 5.5 MW.

While Nordex announced huge declines on the top and bottom line in connection wit hits report, it also presented a new, larger turbine. With a 149 rotor diameter and 5 MW capacity, the company's new N149/5.X turbine will enter serial production in 2021.

Nordex is thus following in the footsteps of competitors Vestas and GE, which also recently announced correspondingly larger turbines. Unlike the two other competitors, however, the Germans have not launched a new platform but rather will expand the current Delta platform, where the first 4.5 MW turbine with corresponding blades began operations on its home market last year.

Vestas confirms spread of stolen data
