German utility aims for Taiwanese comeback in 2019

Utility ENBW is opening an office in Taiwan and hopes to secure 2 GW in domestic project capacity.

ENBW is remaking its own version of Ocean's Eleven in Taiwan. Or rather, the German utility has hired a team of 11 experts which will staff a new office in Taipei, from which it will secure orders on the Taiwanese market, informs the company.

"Like Germany, Taiwan is undergoing a major transformation of its energy sector and working on an Energiewende [energy sector transformation, -ed] of its own. This makes Taiwan an important target market for us in the region," says Markus Wild, head of the Taiwan branch.
