Turbine manufacturer stops production

Shortly before turbine production for Taiwanese offshore wind project begins, a Japanese conglomerate has announced it will halt the production aspect of its business. Instead, collaboration will increase with a German turbine manufacturer.

Hitachi will no longer produce its own wind turbines. Six-and-a-half years after the Japanese conglomerate entered the market with the acquisition of Fuji Heavy Industries' wind turbine division, the company announced Friday that it is planning to stop production.

"...under the current structure, there are issues hindering the further expansion of the business, such as development costs, the distribution of human resources and redundant maintenance service divisions and training centers," writes Hitachi in a press release.
