MHI Vestas nabs key exec from Siemens Gamesa

The Danish-Japanese wind turbine manufacturer is celebrating a victory in its first major offshore project and snapping up its competitor's sales manager in the emerging market.

"Sounds like VineyardWindMA needs a good offshorewind turbine to support these amazingly low power prices. I know a guy!" Jason Folsom, head of US offshore wind sales at Siemens Gamesa, made this tongue-in-cheek tweet to developer Vineyard Wind back in August.

Yet Tuesday last week, Vineyard Wind nominated MHI Vestas as its preferred supplier. All the same, Folsom will still be involved in the project. The Danish-Japanese offshore wind turbine manufacturer has hired its competitor's head of sales to lead the construction of their US department.
