Ørsted closer to offshore wind project in the US

With BOEM intending to evaluate the South Fork project, Danish utility Ørsted is one step closer to its first operational project in the US, slated for 2022. Meanwhile, the gates have been flung wide open for floating offshore wind in the country.

Bureau of Ocean Energy Management  (BOEM) will publish a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for upcoming offshore wind project South Fork, announced the authority in a press release.

The project will consist of 15 turbines off the coast of New York. Over the coming 30 days a hearing consisting of three public meetings will take place in order to ascertain the project's environmental impacts.
