Right hook to Trump: California aims to be world's largest green economy

California and its Governor Jerry Brown want to render the state's energy supply 100 percent zero-carbon by 2045 – which together with Hawaii marks the most ambitious energy target in the world.

A new name appeared on the list of large economies aiming for a 100 percent clean energy supply, thus also aiming to replace fossil sources such as oil and coal.

Californian Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill on Monday requiring the state to source all its electricity from carbon-free sources by 2045.
