Microsoft has committed itself to installing two large data centers in Norway in the cities Stavanger and Oslo. It will also work in close cooperation with one of Norway's largest companies, Equinor, previously Statoil.
According to a joint press release, the two companies have entered a huge deal for data storage and collaboration, reveals Equinor. The company will utilize Microsoft's cloud solution for data storage, while Microsoft will gain access to Equinor's IT department and thus study the IT needs of an oil and gas company transitioning to a focus on renewables.
