Offshore wind heavyweights ready to invest big in the US

Many of Europe's largest energy companies are poised to submit bids in upcoming US offshore wind tenders. If and when we make an entrance, it will not be for a mere single project, says Swedish energy company Vattenfall.

BOSTON

The US offshore wind market boom has begun. A general sense of positivity regarding the US' first tender (for earliest planned completion, -ed.) for 1,200 MW filled the room at the recently held Offshore Wind Conference in Boston, where considerations of the market's potential seemed to outweigh attention paid to possible challenges. The large European energy companies, which have historically been the most significant offshore wind developers, displayed particular zeal.
