Renewable energy is a recurrent theme at the EIA2018 energy conference, despite it taking place at the same time with Trump's announcement of halting the retirement of coal-fired power plants. The direction the political winds are blowing is one thing. Something entirely different is which direction technology is moving. In terms of the latter, there is an singularly obvious move toward renewables – especially toward a more flexible utilization of renewable energy.
