State-owned Polish utility investing in offshore wind

Equinor may have a new partner for its Polish offshore wind project after the largest state-owned electricity company made a bid for a utility.

PGE has made an acquisition offer for utility Polenergia. The state-owned Polish supply company has offered PLN 16.29 (EUR 3.78) per share, adding up to a total PLN 740 million for the company's total equity capital, announced PGE in a press statement.

Polenergia operates within distribution, trade and electricity production, partly sourced from gas, while the company also owns onshore wind farms and is involved in development projects within solar energy, energy storage and electric cars. However, Polenergia's commitment to one particular renewable energy source has attracted interest.
