Vestas opens nacelle factory in Russia

A German industry giant is providing facilities to manufacture components from Vestas' 4 MW platform, which will be used for Vestas' Russian GW-size orders.

Vestas' Russian wind turbine facility is now open for business. The first production of wind turbine components in Russia was launched on April 18, with the production of nacelles from the 4 MW platform for Vestas' Russian turbines. The facilities are located in the Russian factory of German industry conglomerate Liebherrs, located in the Nizhny Novgorod region, reports Russian industry organization Rawi.

"For Vestas, this assembly line is a real milestone. This is an achievement that will foster the investments in the regional economy in accordance with the requirements of Russian legislation," said Nils de Baar,  president of Vestas Northern and Central Europe.
