Media: Offshore wind developer seeking at least USD 1 billion in capital

After a surprising victor in Taiwan's recent offshore wind tender, Bloomberg reports that German offshore wind developer Wpd is looking to sell an equity stake of at least USD 1 billion – or possibly the entire business.

German developer Wpd is allegedly on the hunt for a major capital injection. According to anonymous sources speaking to Bloomberg, the wind developer is looking for investors to buy an equity stake of at least USD 1 billion or to potentially buy the entire business.

It seems that Wpd requires more liquidity for future needs. The latest available information on the German business register, Bundesanzeiger, are the 2016 reports, making it difficult to discern precisely why the company needs the extra capital. However, developments last month could be an indication.
