Solar and wind surpassed in the US

Despite the industry's positivity, it appears that new capacity from renewables will be surpassed for the first time in five years – by natural gas-fired generation.

CHICAGO

There is a lot of optimism for the near future within the US wind market. In the first three months of the year, wind and solar accounted for 94 percent of new additions to the US energy market. Both Navigant and Bloomberg agree that 8.2 GW of wind capacity will be installed in 2018.
