France to negotiate old wind turbine contracts after price plunge

The country expects "very significant price reductions" on its current offshore wind farms.

The price of wind power has taken a steep dive in recent years, and the French government hopes that old wind turbine contracts can be renegotiated at lower prices, reports industry media Recharge News.

France awarded offshore projects in 2012 and 2014 with capacity of 3 GW at prices around EUR 200 per MWh, but the government now wants to renegotiate the deals before July with the consortia that won the contracts back then.
