California confirms major floating wind project

EDPR will develop the first project on the US west coast with triple-digit megawatt capacity in a consortium including Aker Solutions and the company behind the Windfloat technology.

The US east coast is in an offshore wind flurry at the moment but the other side of the country is going the more unconventional route.

The Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) in California has made a crucial move in the development of a floating wind project of 100-150 MW off Humboldt in northern California.
