Turkey planning "world's largest offshore wind farm"

Siemens Gamesa fought its way to the top last fall in Turkey's first auction with spot prices, and the country will auction off the next gigawatt this summer. The nation also states targets for the next decade.

Renewables are on the rise in Turkey. In addition to solar and hydropower, this is largely a matter of wind.

According to the Turkish Wind Energy Association (TUREB), investments of around USD 5 billion were made last year in wind, while approximately 4 GW will be connected over the next three to four years. The country's target is to reach 20 GW in 2023, which would be around a doubling of the current capacity.
