Sharp offshore wind growth sends certification into overdrive

As offshore wind projects become increasingly extensive and expand into new markets beyond Europe, the demand for documentation and certification is growing.

It is seven years since Vestas, at the time fronted by Ditlev Engel, took to the stage before an impressed and perhaps slightly skeptical audience in London to present the group's latest hope: the V164 turbine.

Since then, there have been few significant new launches within the offshore industry, but rather a focus on further developing an existing design. For example, Siemens Gamesa launched an 8 MW turbine which is a further development of the company's current offshore turbine of 6 and 7 MW.
