Wind industry: Unclear targets are pushing jobs out of the EU

There is an acute need for the EU to announce that it has adopted an ambitious target for renewable energy 2030. Otherwise, thousands of jobs in the wind industry will go to China and other countries with big wind ambitions, according to the opening debate at WindEurope 2017.

The number of employees in the European wind industry could double over the next ten years. But the window for making the right decisions will close quickly, and it will close soon if the EU has not agreed on ambitious renewables targets for 2030. This would push the job creation down from the current 262,000 jobs in Europe's wind industry to a lower level. And even further from the potential of 525,000 jobs that could be created.
