Vestas wakes up to new reality in 2018

ANALYSIS: Increased competition and downward price pressure have long been at the top of the agenda for all players in and around the wind industry. Yet it seems that the dark clouds have mainly loomed over others than Vestas. Today, rainfall hit the Danish manufacturer.

The changes in the wind turbine industry – mainly driven by price pressure and potential depreciation of the US market – have been ignored by investors in Vestas for a long time.

But the skeleton in the closet popped its head out last week when the news of an upcoming reduction of the US PTC tax credit spooked Vestas investors. The shock seemed to mostly wear off in the following days.
