The US Department of Energy is allegedly in a chaotic state after Trump took over the US presidency, reports Danish media Ingeniøren referring to a long article in Vanity Fair by US business journalist Michael Lewis.
The department, which employs 110,000 staff and has a USD 27.9 billion annual budget, is responsible for tasks such as guarding US nuclear weapons, preventing the sale of uranium and plutonium to terrorists on the black market, and administrating subsidies for renewable energy.
However, the transition phase from Obama to Trump has been so chaotic in the ministry that employees are fleeing, budgets are out of control, and nobody knows whether their research area remains on the agenda or will be closed.
