British consumer organization demands energy networks repay GBP 7.5 billion

UK electricity and gas consumers have paid far too much, says a new report from British consumer organization Citizen's Advice. They are demanding GBP 7.5 billion is repaid to the consumers via a one-off discount.

British consumer organization Citizen's Advice is accusing energy networks of exploiting UK consumers and is demanding a GBP 7.5 billion (EUR 8.5 billion) repayment to consumers, reports The Guardian.

In a report, the consumer group has calculated that energy companies which transmit electricity and gas have reaped average profit margins of 19 percent from their monopolies.
