Denmark wants to be able to deny Russian gas pipelines access to Danish waters, states the country's government, which has presented a legislative proposal to amend the law regarding the continental shelf.
According to the proposal, prior approval from the Danish energy ministry would be required before laying "pipelines for the transport of hydrocarbons in Danish territorial waters." This type of prior approval would only be granted if "it is compatible with the interests of the nation's foreign, security, and defense policies."
