Hackers cause another blackout in Ukraine

Power blackouts hit the greater capital region in Ukraine during the coldest time of the year. This happened exactly one year after another, full blown hacker attack against the country's electricity grid. Experts believe the same culprits are behind both incidents.

For the second time in the span of just one year, hackers have infiltrated the electricity grid in Ukraine and successfully caused blackouts in the capital region Kiev, according to several international media, after experts have investigated the power outages which hit in December.

There are no reports yet about who is behind the crime but experts guess that the same culprits hacked into the system causing comprehensive power outages in the same area in December 2015. At that time, Ukraine's intelligence service accused Russia of being behind the hours of blackouts, however, there was insufficient evidence to pursue the charges.
