Second-largest EU wind nation plans 3 GW auction

Over the first quarter of this year, Spain will host tenders for more than 1,400 MW of wind and similar amounts of solar power.

Spain is getting back into the green energy game. The Spanish government has sent a legislative proposal to the country's regulator (CNMC) to hold auctions of more than 3 GW in sustainable energy projects, according to a press release made public just before the new year.

In an underlying report, it states that 1,400 MW are expected to be tendered off in wind projects and the same amount in solar power. A further 200 MW will be allocated to "other technologies".
