US Department of Energy opposes Trump: Refuses to name climate-change employees

The department's employees have taken center stage after the president-elect requested names of the key figures behind the drafting of Obama's climate policy. Democrats and NGOs fear harassment of employees, but now the employers are taking a stand.

Although there are still weeks left until Donald Trump officially becomes the 45th US president, a power battle is in full swing between the president-elect and the senior public officials who will serve him. In particular, the area of climate has been scrutinized thoroughly by the impending administration in an attempt to discern which of the government's efforts can be rolled back, slowed down or altered.

Now, the department – equivalent to an energy ministry – is at the center of a prolific power struggle.
