There are two big winners in the global energy system of the next 25 years: natural gas and renewable powers sun and wind, writes the International Energy Agency in its latest World Energy Outlook 2016.
The report concludes that in 2040, renewable energy will generate 37 percent of global electricity, up from 23 percent, while there will be a 50 percent increase in the demand for natural gas. According to the IEA, these two winners will replace coal, the energy leader of the past 25 years.
