EU countries on their own in handling elevated energy prices

European Union member states must themselves ease the burden on citizens hard hit by increased energy prices, EU leaders decide.

Late Thursday evening, after many hours of debate, European Union heads of state and government have agreed on conclusions pertaining to the handling of the record-high energy prices in Europe, writes Barend Leyts, spokesperson for EU President Charles Michel, on Twitter.

The conclusions stipulate that member states must utilize the toolkit presented by the European Commission earlier this month.
