NATO sets action plan to tackle own greenhouse gas emissions

The military alliance integrates climate in its agenda for the first time, says secretary general.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization intends to "significantly" reduce greenhouse gas emission from its activities, the alliance writes in a statement after concluding a summit meeting in Brussels on Monday.

"NATO Leaders will endorse an ambitious new NATO Action Plan on Climate Change and Security, with the aim of making NATO the leading international organization when it comes to understanding and adapting to the impact of climate change on security," the statement reads:
