Offshore wind pressures investments in Norway's grid

Major plans to establish offshore wind on the Norwegian shelf will bring pressure to make bigger investments in the grid to ensure connection, according to TSO Statnett.

Demand to secure connection to Norway's power grid has only grown in recent years, and with its offshore wind build-out the country will have to up investments in the grid, says domestic transmission system operator Statnett CEO Hilde Tonne.

When German-Norwegian interconnector Nordlink opened on Thursday, the green energy transition was a particularly hot topic, in which it's difficult to avoid Norway's offshore wind.
