Atmospheric greenhouse gas concentration reaches record level

Covid-19 lockdowns will have little effect on the trajectory of greenhouse gas accumulation, a UN report concludes.

The concentration of greenhouse gases (GHG) in Earth's atmosphere set a new record in 2019.

That figure has only continued to surge, show initial data, pointing to a limited effect from closures during the pandemic, states UN agency World Meteorological Organization in its annual atmospheric GHG report measuring CO2, methane and nitrous oxide, among others, relay several media such as AFP, Reuters and dpa.
