Recent years have witnessed a boom in the installation of new wind energy capacity in Norway, now prompting the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) to book a slight upward adjustment of its long-term prognosis ahead of 2040.
"Combined, wind power generation is expanding quicker than we projected in last year's analysis. We forecast that Nordic wind production will increase from 71 TWh this year to 104 TWh in 2025 and further to 164 TWh in 2040 [Note: Norwegian authorities account for capacity expansion in terms of projected annual generation, -ed.]," NVE writes in its analysis.
