Swedish TSO gets Danish nod for EU open power market exemption

Svenska Kraftnät has requested an exemption from next year's EU requirements for a free inner electricity market. Denmark's utility regulator could obstruct the decision but has opted to let it slide.

A one-year exemption to the EU's open power market regulations was granted to Swedish transmission system operator Svenska Kraftnät last year because it wasn't possible to guarantee that the transmission capacity allocations on transnational interconnectors could consistently remain above the legally required 70 percent.

Two weeks back, EnergyWatch reported that the TSO had also applied for a dispensation for 2021.
