First power flows from Norway to Germany on weakened connection

A challenged German power grid will put a disappointingly low ceiling on the proportion of Nordlink's capacity eligible for market trading, says Norway.

Cable manufacturer Nexans says the first kilowatt-hours have been transmitted from Norway to Germany.

In the past week, tests commenced on the 1,400-MW Nordlink interconnector between the two countries, which plan to commission the link next year.
