India shuts completely down

In an effort to delay and prevent the spread of coronavirus contagion, India shuts down entirely for three weeks, entailing a complete public curfew, says prime minister.


The world's second-most populated country closes completely down, effective from midnight local time – 19:30 CET – with the whole country entering a full three-week lockdown to stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, announces Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a public address Tuesday evening local time.

The BBC reports that there will be a complete ban on leaving one's home .
