Merkel and Putin in gas talks

In a phone call, the German chancellor has discussed the completion of gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 as well as prospects for importing Russian gas via Ukraine.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed natural gas supply in a phone call with Germany's Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Kremlin's press office informs.

"Matters regarding cooperation within the gas sector were discussed, including prospects for the Russian gas pipeline through Ukraine after Jan. 1, 2020, and completion of the Nord Stream 2 project," the press office writes.
