Michael Bloomberg donates half a billion to coal-free US

Since 2010, 280 US coal-fired power plants have deem decommissioned or announced their closing. A new campaign by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg now attempts to close the remaining 241.

Today, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has donated USD 500 million to his campaign Beyond Carbon, which promotes a coal-free US energy system grid, writes The New York Times

The campaign was launched back in March, when Bloomberg concurrently stated that he would not run as candidate for the presidency.
