The EU is launching an "in-depth investigation" of the UK's capacity market scheme to settle the question of whether a scheme to safeguard security of electricity supply is in line with the EU's state aid rules.
The timing may seem inappropriate since the UK, in case of a "no-deal Brexit", will leave the EU in five weeks and thus will not be subject to the regulations.
