EU Commission wants Europe to hit zero emissions by 2050

The EU must achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the EU Commission writes about its new strategy. If this is to be achieved, however, extensive efforts will be needed.

By 2050, the EU will not emit more greenhouse gases than it can offset. This is the new ambition set out in the EU Commission's new long-term climate strategy published Wednesday morning.
