IPCC: Global temperature increase can be limited to under 1.5 degrees

Limiting global temperature increases to under 1.5 degrees will require unprecedented action, says the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Reducing global temperatures to the levels set out by the Paris climate accord can be done.

But it will require rapid, extensive and unprecedented changes across all aspects of society if global temperature increases are to be limited to under 1.5 degrees by 2100 – relative to pre-industrial levels, states the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report published early Monday.
